Getting to
and from Glasgow Airport
Driving
Access is via the M8 motorway at Junction 28. The
airport is 8 miles west of Glasgow City Centre. The journey time is usually around 15
minutes but allow longer at rush hour. For Sat Nav users the postcode is PA3
2SW.
Parking - on airport: The airport
has three main car parks to the terminal building. The new 2000 space
multi-story, Car Park 2, is also the designated drop of point (no charge for
first 10 minutes to
drop off passengers) and offers passengers quick and
easy access to the terminal. There is also optional Fast
Track parking.

Public transport tickets/information
Information, timetables and tickets are
available from the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Travel Centre
in the UK Arrivals concourse. (information Tel: 0141 848 4330)
Picking up and dropping off
A new purpose-built drop-off zone is now in operation at Glasgow
Airport, and is free to use. A designated pick-up point for
private vehicles is located in Car Park 1 and a similar facility
for private hire taxis/chauffeur services is located on the ground
floor of Car Park 2. Flight information screens will provide live
updates on all departing and arriving flights, and help points
will be available for any passenger in need of assistance.
Special needs
Special provision has been made to allow disabled drivers (blue
badge holders) to drop off and pick up in the designated blue
badge spaces on the ground floor of Short Stay Car Park 2,
directly opposite the terminal. Car Park tickets should be taken
to the customer service desk within the car park for validation
giving up to 30 minutes' free access. Drivers will be asked to
produce a blue badge before the ticket is validated.
Help points are available within the car park for anyone in need
of assistance.

Bus and Coach Services
Service 500 (airport's official Glasgow Shuttle)
First's Glasgow
Shuttle provides you with the most direct service
between the airport and Glasgow city centre with
links to Glasgow's two main railway stations -
Central and Queen Street - and the main bus
terminus, Buchanan Bus Station.
The service operates
every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day, and takes only
25 minutes end to end.
All busses are
low-floor for easy accessibility, and have luggage
racks and free WiFi access to help make the most
of your journey time.
First also operate
over 100 services across greater Glasgow, offering
connections to or from most parts of the area.

Service 747 (AirLink cityService)
First's 747 AirLink service operates between Glasgow Airport and
the city centre via Renfrew, Braehead, Partick, Kelvingrove Art
Gallery and Charing Cross, making it ideal for visiting the west
end of the city as well as visiting some of Glasgow's best retail
and tourist attractions on the way into the city centre.
First 747 AirLink buses run up to every 20 minutes and journey
time to Buchanan bus station is around 48 minutes. Service 747
provides direct access to many visitor attractions and hotels, and
connects with the First network at Partick or Glasgow city centre.
All of First’s AirLink buses are low floor and fully accessible.

Service 66 (local and Paisley Gilmour Street)
Service 60, operated by Arriva, no longer serves Glasgow Airport.
Customers should instead board service 66, which has extended its
route to the airport. This high-frequency bus service in the
Glasgow Airport and Love Street area is now served by low-floor
vehicles.
Service 800
(Largs) The 800 service, operated by Arriva, provides a link to the
airport from Largs on the Ayrshire coast. The service calls at
Kilbirnie, Beith, Johnstone and Paisley. It arrives at Glasgow
Airport at 54 minutes past the hour and depart for the return
journey at 05 past. It operates from Monday to Saturday.
Coaches to national destinations
Coaches to destinations around Scotland and the UK, run by
operators including National Express and Scottish CityLink, call
at Buchanan Bus Station in central Glasgow. To get there from the
airport, use bus services 500 (see above).

Taxis
Glasgow Airport taxis are available 24 hours a day to any
destination and any distance. Taxi drivers are obliged to meter
the entire journey and publish their scale of charges.
Prices for longer journeys may be negotiated with the driver. The
approximate fare from Glasgow Airport to Glasgow City Centre is
£20.00 - £22.00 as regulated by Renfrewshire Council.
Where to find taxis
The taxi rank is at the front of the terminal building. Only taxis
licensed by Renfrewshire Council may pick up from the rank.
Trains The nearest rail station to the airport is Paisley Gilmour Street,
which is just one mile from the terminal and easily reached by
taxi or bus (services 66 and 300, see above).
There are direct rail services from Paisley Gilmour Street to
Glasgow Central, Ayr and Clyde Coast destinations.
When travelling to the airport from any station in Scotland,
simply ask for a rail ticket to Glasgow Airport. The ticket will
be valid on the train to Paisley Gilmour Street and the Arriva bus
service from Paisley to the airport.
Trains to Glasgow Central
There are eight trains an hour from Paisley Gilmour Street to
Glasgow Central (five per hour on Sundays).
Rail tickets to Glasgow Central, via Paisley Gilmour Street, can
be purchased from the SPT Travel Centre on the ground floor of the
airport terminal, next to domestic arrivals. |
