• Glasgow Airport is Scotland's principal long haul gateway, with direct flights to New York (Newark), Orlando, Philadelphia, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Hamilton, Mexico, the Caribbean, Pakistan, Gambia and Egypt.
   

• Glasgow Airport also has Scotland's only direct link to the Gulf, with Emirates flying year round to Dubai, and onwards to over 90 worldwide destinations.
   

• Glasgow Airport handles around 8.4 million passengers a year. Over 30 regular airlines serve almost 100 direct destinations worldwide.
   

• In October 2006 BAA Glasgow Airport unveiled their master plan to build a 'World class gateway' for Glasgow. The £290 million blueprint outlines plans for the development of the airport which envisages handling up to 24 million passengers a year by 2030, more than half of them flying international, with a forecast 3.8m using long haul services. • In October 2008 the £31m "skyhub" extension to the terminal building was opened to passengers. With state-of-the-art security screening, more natural light, more space to relax and more choice of shops, bars and restaurants, the airport is being transformed for an altogether better passenger experience.
